Case study 05

One place to work from.

A digital workplace built inside Microsoft Teams: company news, people, events and the small daily things, on one home page that an executive and a new joiner can both read in thirty seconds.

01 / Problem statement

The information exists. Finding it is the job.

Large organisations run on fragmented channels: news in email, people in a directory, events in a calendar nobody opens, culture in a chat thread. Employees spend real time hunting across platforms, and engagement drops with every extra click.

Goal 01 Centralise communication without a new login
Goal 02 Dense enough for executives, calm enough for everyone
Goal 03 Work the same for office and remote teams
02 / Research

Interviews with clients, then a look at the field.

I ran in-depth interviews with existing clients about information accessibility, collaboration and workflow. The same three complaints came back: nobody knows where news lives, nobody knows who to ask, and nothing feels like one product.

Then I reviewed the leading intranet solutions for Microsoft Teams to find where a new one could earn its place.

Competitor 01 Powell Software A customisable intranet integrated with Microsoft 365. Strong templates, heavy configuration.
Competitor 02 Valo Intranet A modern platform for SharePoint and Teams. Polished, but built around SharePoint's own model.
Competitor 03 LiveTiles AI-driven intranet experiences inside the Microsoft ecosystem. Powerful, and dense to learn.

Not more modules, but a home page that is readable at a glance and needs no configuration to feel finished.

03 / The home page

Three columns, one glance.

The story column carries news and people, the right rail carries things that change daily: announcements, new joiners, locations, weather. Every module keeps the same card, the same tab pattern, the same see-more, so the page scales without ever feeling like a different product.

04 / Modules and rationale

Every block solves a named problem.

Culture and daily life
Culture and daily life module
Product launch block A countdown on the home page drove adoption of new internal tools.
LinkedIn integration Company posts land in the intranet, so external presence is visible internally.
Responsive by default The same three columns stack for phones, for people who never open a desktop.
